Autumn in the country

Today was a beautifully warm and sunny day so as all of my family had the day off we decided to venture out and enjoy the countryside. We parked the car and walked 3 miles along the Cleveland way to a ruined abbey and back again. Don't get me wrong, at some points during the walk I had to question myself and think why do we go walking?! There's lots of hills and it can sometimes feel like forever, but once I get into my stride I love walking in the country. You can feel like your miles away from the city even though you only travelled a short distance and I love getting lots of fresh air. Here are some photos I captured from today(mostly of my sister as I was behind the camera) which I thought I would share with you, hope you enjoy!

Do you prefer a country walk or a day in the city?

The British Tag

Hello :)

Hope everyone is enjoying October so far! Here's a quick tag post for you all about being British... God save the Queen!!

1. How many cups of tea so do you have a day? + How many sugars?
well...I am 100% British, but I don't like tea!! Criminal I know.

2. Favourite part of your roast?
Yorkshire puddings without a doubt.

3. Favourite dunking biscuit?
Seen as though I don't drink tea I rarely dunk biscuits. However... a KitKat dunked in any warm beverage (Tea/Hot Chocolate etc ) is heavenly.

4. Favourite quintessentially British past time?
Not sure if it classes as "quintessential" but I love going to the beach when it's cold and getting all wrapped up. The beach is usually somewhere you associate with warm weather but lots of British people go in the winter! I think it's more enjoyable in the winter than in the summer!

5. Favourite word?
Being from Yorkshire there are lots of words in my vocabulary that other people in Britain wouldn't understand never mind people from over seas and I love them all! Ee by gum, scran and mafting are just a few examples.

6. Cockney rhyming slang?
Apples and pairs? That's about it

7. Favourite sweet?
Do chocolate raisins count as sweets?

8. What would your pub be called?
The Yorkshire something(?)  Got to stay true to your roots !

9. No.1 British person?
It's got to be Kate Middleton, I absolutely love her, her hair, fashion, family and how she came from a normal background. Just a lovely lady.   ohh and her wedding dress was AMAZING.

10. Favourite shop/restaurant?
I really like the little independent shops we usually stumble into on different holidays across the country.
Same with restaurants really, the cute little tea shops with amazing cakes and home cooked grub!

11. What British song pops into your head?
God Save the Queen + Swing low, sweet chariot...don't ask?!

12. Marmite?

I tag anyone who is British!
Thanks for reading,

Could you be happy for 100 days?

Everyone can have down days, it's human nature. Sometimes things just don't quite go your way, making you feel rotten. I often stumble across these "rotten" days. I let the slightest thing panic or annoy me which really influences my mood. So when I began to see the #100happydays circulate on Instagram I thought what a nice idea, maybe I should do that? So in the middle of February I uploaded "Day 1- Fresh sheets. #100happydays" I had no idea if I would be able to stick at it for 100 days but I was determined!
And I did it, 3 and a bit months later I posted my final image feeling very content in the fact I had managed to complete it!
It may not sound like everyone's cup of tea, uploading a digital image everyday for a 100 days but it really did help me appreciate the little things in life. I'm not going to lie, there were some days I sat at home thinking "what one earth am I going to put today?!" but that is why it is such an uplifting thing to do. No matter how rubbish I was feeling I proved to myself that I could still find something, somewhere to be happy about (even if it was just food!!).
It's one of those things that you think "oh well it doesn't matter if I miss today, no-one is actually bothered by it" but you have to do it for yourself and not for others. You have to prove to yourself that there is always reason to be happy. :D
So, if you think you're one of those people who can sometimes walk around thinking the whole world is against you. Someone who has a mind full of negativity instead of positivity. Maybe you should give the #100happydays a go?!

Here are a few examples of my 100 days of being happy.

Day 34 - Had a fantastic day at Go Ape swinging through the trees!

Day 37 - Walking in the sunshine in Alnmouth
Day 45 - Beautiful walk around Harlow Carr followed by a gorgeous ice-cream from Bettys
Day 14 - Sun and Sunday lunch...favourite kind of Sunday

Day 15 - One Born Every Minute & Toblerone

Day 65 - Riding to work is sooo much nicer when it's sunny :)

I really hope this has inspired some of you to have a go. Even if you don't want to post daily on Instagram perhaps you could write them down or even just make an effort to think of one reason a day. Let me know how you get along.

Stay happy!
